WE ARE Martin Wenger and Carolyn Sherie, happily unmarried with two children, Jacques (10) and Max-Martin (8). We are a mix of nationalities – Martin is Swiss and Australian, Caro is a New Zealander naturalised French, and the boys are very French.
In July 2008 we sold our house in France where we had lived for ten years and moved onto our sailing boat, WANDA. We plan to travel for about two years home-schooling the children with the excellent French correspondence school system.
We then stayed in Port-St-Louis-du Rhône for six months transforming WANDA into a functioning live-aboard vessel and we finally set sail the end of January 2009.
Our original plans were to sail to Tunisia, Egypt, and then through the Suez Canal. But this no longer looks feasible because of the piracy in the region of Somalia. So we turned right instead to Barcelona and the Balearic Islands and next plan to visit Mediterranean North Africa.
We will probably spend all summer 2009 in the Med. And then we’ll see. We welcome anyone to make any suggestions or share their experiences…

Well now Max-Martin is 9 and Jacques is 11. We didn’t spend all summer in the Med, we loved Morocco so much that we turned the corner to explore the Atlantic coast. We also visited the Canary Islands and now we are in Senegal. Our new plans are that we have no plans, much better that way…
